ZEN AROMATHERAPY

Zen Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils in a deeply relaxing, therapeutic, full body massage. “Zen” aromatherapy works in tune with Traditional Chinese Medical philosophy by working along and clearing the Channels. A blend of pure essential oils is carefully selected to suit each individual’s needs. The treatment enhances the body’s natural healing abilities and helps eliminate toxins. Aromatherapy is an effective preventative treatment helping to balance mind, body and spirit.

Essential oils are extracted from flowers, herbs, spices, etc. They have a wide variety of healing properties. The essential oils are diluted in a blend of nourishing carrier oils such as Grapeseed, Jojoba, Evening Primrose, Calendula, Coconut, Apricot, Wheatgerm and others.

Conditions: Aromatherapy is recommended for relieving conditions such as stress, headaches, insomnia, eczema, muscular aches and pains, backache, arthritis, depression, poor circulation and many more.

Treatments: initial treatments include a 15 minute consultation followed by a 1 hour treatment Follow up sessions last for one hour.

The oils are usually obtained by steam distillation. Other techniques include expression (squeezing the oil from peel), maceration (immersing the plant in hot oil to release the essence) and enfleurage (pressing flowers between oiled glass plates).

Essential oils may be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Inhaled scents stimulate the olfactory centres in the nose and particular parts of the brain. Oils massaged into the skin pass into the bloodstream and can influence nervous system function, mental function and emotions.

Medical aromatherapists prescribe the oils internally, but this requires specialist knowledge and training.
