Diane Acton BSc DPodM MChS SRCh - State Registered Chiropodist/Podiatrist

Diane is here at Nine Springs on Wednesday afternoons. She is a Member of Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and is registered with the Health Professions Council

Diane Acton qualified as a State Registered Chiropodist at the Northern College of Chiropody, Salford, with distinction in 1985. Her first position was with Bath Area Health Authority, based at the Royal United Hospital as a Senior 2 Chiropodist. She went on to marry and have her family alongside working as a private practitioner in Yeovil and the surrounding villages, offering home visits for many years.

Diane updated her Diploma in Podiatric Medicine to a BSc Podiatry (Conversion) Degree at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh, graduating with distinction in July 2006.

Diane is fully committed to ongoing professional development and attends courses throughout the year, to maintain up to date knowledge and changes within her profession.

In 2007, Diane has attended Southampton University to study progress in Diabetes. She has attended at the Devon Branch of the Society to cover Infection Control. In October she will attend the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists 4 day Annual Conference, to gain updated information on a multitude of topics.

Diane specialises in clinical skills, dealing with nail problems, corns, calluses and skin concerns. She assesses and evaluates your feet and your health as a whole person, involving other colleagues and specialists if the need is identified. Diane carries out annual Diabetes assessment, involving specific tests considered essential to the Diabetic foot. Leaflets are available for patient information also.

Diane is a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and fully subscribes to their professional code of ethics. She is also registered with the Health Professions Council, which is a government body, formed to regulate continuing professional education and standards of practice.

Diane has also qualified as an Aerobics Instructor at Bridgwater College, teaching fitness classes between 1992-1997. She is also a Reflexology Practitioner, having studied under Vicki Pitman, 1997 at Yeovil College.

Diane has been married to Don for 20 years and they have 2 grown up children and 2 wonderful Border Collie dogs.
