Indian Head Massage
Head massage has been practised for over a thousand years and continues to be part of daily grooming in India. Champi, meaning massage of the head, is often offered by barbers as part of the treatment. Narendra Mehta came to England in 1973 to study physical therapy. He discovered when going for a haircut that no head massage was offered. He also noticed that in a therapeutic massage the head seemed to be completely neglected. He decided then to develop the Indian Head Massage as we know it in the West today.
It consists of a stimulating scalp and hair massage to encourage healthy hair, a neck & shoulder massage to release stress and tension, and facial massage to tone and relax. The treatment incorporates acupressure releasing a free flow of healing energy.
