Massage provides benefits to:-

The Circulatory System

Blood flow is quickened by using direct pressure and stimulating the nerves, nutrients are distributed at a higher rate and the heart’s action is strengthened.

The Nervous System

Massage can either stimulate or sooth according to the methods uses. Stimulation increases the activity of the muscles, vessels and glands while soothing movements relieve pain and nervous irritability.

The Lymphatic System

Direct pressure quickens the activity of the lymphatic ducts and glands, promoting absorption and exchange of fluids enabling the body to eliminate toxins more quickly.

The Muscular System

Muscle tone is strengthened through improved circulation and nutrition of the muscle tissue. Relaxation of tense muscles allows for greater ease of movement.

The Respiratory System

The improved local circulation increases the amount of carbonic acid gas in the body’s tissues.  The lungs respond with deeper breathing.

The Digestive System

Massage excites the reflexive action of the nerves in the digestive system and also increases the amount of bile fluid produced by the liver.  The manufacture of digestive juices in stomach, intestines, liver and pancreas are also helped by the increased activity of the glands and circulation.

DEEP TISSUE/REMEDIAL MASSAGE

In Deep Tissue & Remedial Massage the therapist is primarily working on the body’s connective tissue or “fascia”. When healthy the fascia will move freely with the body.  However, after injury, illness or prolonged lack of movement, the fascia can become hardened and stick to surrounding structures.  This can cause pain, a reduction in the range of motion of an affected joint, and hardening fascia can accentuate poor postural patterns.

The therapist will work specifically on areas that require release.  Using a variety of long deep strokes, slowly paced in specific areas to create softening and release, along with applied pressure and therapeutic stretching. The effect of working in one area will be felt in the whole body.  Deep Tissue Massage of the whole body in one session is not possible, nor is it advisable to work so deeply on all the body in one session,
